The starting point of the trail " Lord of the Mountains " is near the resort " Semkovo " in Rila. The route is 14 kilometers and takes about 4 hours by normal pace . Lord of the Mountains live up to 30 years and inhabits forests and alpine pastures . Males reach a weight of 350 pounds. Bear needs a large territory and privacy , thus increasing human activity in mestoobitalishtata it affects very negatively on its population in a given area .
Bulgarian people believe that the bear combines elements of human and animal nature . It is an endangered species and Bulgaria is one of the few countries in Europe where the population is relatively stable.
