Shabla is located 20 km from Kavarna and 80 km from Varna. Cape Shabla, where is located the lighthouse, the oldest operating in the Balkan Peninsula, is the most eastern point of Bulgaria. So here the sun first brushing the beautiful sea, and here comes the first New Year. For lovers of diving will be interesting to know that the sea around Shabla has a number of sunken vessels, including submarines of World War II.
In this region there was an ancient Thracian settlement later - a Greek colony, and still later near Shabla city is built Roman port trucks. In early Byzantine times there was also a brisk trade and crafts. Later it declined and remained only the fishing village.
In the region of Shabla is located and two protected areas:
Lyman Lake Shabla, which is located near the beach is a wonderful place for tourists and anglers.
Shabla Tuzla is located near the lake. It is lake lagoon, whose bottom is rich with hydrogen sulphide sludge used for mud. The resort offers excellent conditions for rural, eco, medical, cultural and hunting tourism. It has hotels, villas and holiday homes.
Nearby are Yailata, Kaliakra cape and Durankulak lake.
