Price: Rock monasteries in the plateau are remarkable monuments , the product of religious , cultural and educational life during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Most likely they are incurred during the period XII - XIV century in parallel with the emergence and spread of hesychastic teaching in medieval Bulgaria . They found shelter hermit monks . It is composed of more than ten stone cells , some of which are placed in a horizontal indentation. Famous rock monasteries is Direkliyata , so called because of the carved pillar at the entrance . Turkish pillar translates as Direk. Southeast of Direkliyata is there rock monastery in the shape of a horseshoe . Interest to tourists and Troicki monasteries. It is found in their plaque and carved images of a man ax and cross.
