Regional History Museum Sliven

The foundations of the museum in Sliven place in the period of the Bulgarian Renaissance, when patriotically Sliven, collected relics from the time of the medieval Bulgarian state.

The real foundation of the museum began immediately after the liberation of the city from Turkish rule, when on 14 February 1878. is based on ethnographic Committee of the Moscow Society of Sliven.

Regional Museum of History is housed in a beautiful building on the main street. He is one of the oldest institutions in the town of Sliven. Founded in 1913 as a community center museum library "Zora". Renewed the museum "Treasures - Museum - Memory" opened on May 12, 2008 to mark 130 years since the beginning of the museum and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the museum in the town of Sliven. The exhibition includes original monuments of the Museum, some of which are global, and connected with the life of the population in Sliven region from the Neolithic to the present day.

In the halls of the first floor are marble and bronze sculpture from Roman times, objects and ornaments of bone from antiquity to the Middle Ages. One of the most important archaeological sites is the inscription on the pedestal in honor of the god Zeus. The collection tools shown craft tools, agricultural implements used in ancient and medieval times. On the second floor is a collection of jewelry and dishes, wrought copper. A unique collection of Renaissance weapons - sword Khitov, swords, flint mechanism different types of firearms. On the top floor are shown the so-called findings. "Valley of the Kings", opened in the summer of 2007 by an archaeological expedition led by renowned Dr. Georgi Kitov. On display are luxury pottery, burial gifts, decorations horse trappings, amphorae, etc.. The highest artistic value are the two silver rhyton.

Regional Museum of History include the following items: House Museum "Hadji Dimitar" Museum House "Sliven life," museum collection "Good Chintulov" Early Byzantine and medieval fortress "Tuida."
