The starting point of this route is a religious church "Virgin Mary" (street "St. Cyril and Methodius" 19) , built in the late XIX century on Italian design . In the past it represented the heart of " Delibalta " - one of the neighborhoods that form the historic center of Sliven. Temple has a typical construction of stone and travertine Astracantha and the iconostasis is the work of a master of the Tryavna Woodcarving probably Papavitanovi Yoanikiy . The church is a monument of culture and is undoubtedly interesting tourist visits.
The next stop on the track again spiritual center - the church "St. Sofia" ( on " Dobri Voivode Str." 23) , which is also a cultural monument. For it, there is evidence from the VII century, but in its present form is from 1830 . Its architecture is very different from traditional Renaissance. It is a massive arched nave apse basilica , whose western part is elongated in said large-scale restoration . The dome does is particularly original - it is a combination of two parts with different shapes , separated by a profiled cornice . Facade and generally the whole architecture is characterized by simplicity and scalability .
Hence we turn to Square "Hadji Dimitar" , where in 1831 was built the church "St. Dimitar " . Masters of the church are Bratsigovo building school . The church is consistent with the classical rules of architecture. Particularly impressed by the masterly painted ceilings and beautiful capitals decorated with floral and geometric motifs. The iconostasis was also very fine , the threads are in high relief with floral motifs typical of the Debar carving school .
Final destination along the trail is the church "St. Nicholas " (street " Moscow " 17) , built in 1834 over an older temple. The construction is solid carvings are extremely rich and exquisite . This also applies to the murals . Very interesting is the exterior of the porch . Proportions and segmentation of the façade give the building a calm and Renaissance momunentalnost . During the Renaissance the church existed the mutual school.
The trail is easy and pleasant , suitable for history lovers and people interested in religious tourism . Gives a real idea of the Christian past and present of the Sliven region and can be combined with a visit to various other tourist sites in the "city of a hundred chieftains".
