Price: Ecopath " Sofia - Gorna Banya - " St. Cyril and Methodius Monastery" is one of the newest in Bulgaria . It takes tourists Lulin Mountain and introduces them to her beauty , located adjacent to the capital of Bulgaria , but still retained its authentic spirit. The end point of the route is the monastery "St. Cyril and Methodius " , to which can be reached by car . More nature lovers but prefer to experience the excitement of trekking and enjoy the movement and natural attractions .
The walking route starts on "Obzor" in the metropolitan district "Gorna Banya " whereby we escape from the bustle of the big city. Imperceptibly tourists find themselves in the suburbs , and as soon as you leave , you take the left fork in the road . The transition to the monastery is long and passionate nature lovers can even stay a little disappointed with fast access to the endpoint of the eco-trail .
As we had the opportunity to mention the monastery " St. Cyril and Methodius " is located in Lulin Mountain. It is tucked away in her soft folds, only about 3 miles from the suburbs of the district " Gorna Banya" . According to historical sources , the monastery was founded in the XIII century by the Serbian King Stefan Uros II Milutin . Legend even claims that after the death of the ruler (who was canonized as a saint ) monastery holds relics awhile.
During the Turkish rule in the Bulgarian lands "St. Cyril and Methodius " was destroyed several times . The greatest destruction it experienced in the XVII century and was restored only during the Bulgarian National Revival ( 1875 ) . Currently operating in the monastery is only a small church. The monastery does not offer food and shelter for pilgrims , but its proximity to the capital, the sacredness of the place and the beautiful natural surroundings make it a popular tourist destination .
The monastery is declared a cultural monument . Ecotrail "Sofia - district Gorna Banya - monastery "St. Cyril and Methodius" is easily accessible for tourists not particularly great physical abilities. The route can be traveled in all seasons, and in good weather allows visitors to bring their children with them . Along the eco-trail are built resting places .
