To the south wall of Gabrensko monastery "St. Dimitar " is the grave of Ivan Chakarov . I stood there tombstone cross reminiscent of generations not only praise his work , but also for the joint efforts of his fellow villagers from the village of Gabra . In 1865 locals sent Chakarov to Constantinople . He had to solicit permission from the Ottoman authorities for the construction of an Orthodox monastery near the village. Chakarov walked three months to realize the desire of believers. His effort was rewarded , and he returned the favor with a pole of Constantinople. It is interesting to note that during his trip Ivan Chakarov learned the French word "pardon" is often used it and his fellow villagers began to call him " pardon" which became the ancestor of the great Pardonski family in the village.

Nowadays Gabrensko monastery is inactive . Preserved only his church that opens twice a year - at a temple festival and professional holiday of miners - " Miner's Day ", which is traditionally celebrated monastery meadows.

Name - "St. Dimitar " Chukurovskiyat monastery , as it is known monastery near the village of Gabra, received in 1866 - the date on which completed construction. Derives from the dedication and tradition locals named it as " St. Meter " ( Dimitar ) or simply " monastery" . The church was decorated in 1867 by painters Samokov Guerov Constantine and his pupil Costache . This is evident donor sign at the main entrance of the temple. To the monastery church built more separate building for living, another - for accommodation of pilgrims and a kitchen . Possession of the monastery were 500 acres of forest , about 100 acres of fields and meadows , and 50-60 cattle and over 100 sheep. Locals but generous donations to the building , donated the monastery several missals issued in Kiev and Moscow, as well as " instructive gospel " by Sophronius of Vratsa issued in Belgrade in 1868 knigopechatnitsata Nikola Stefanovic . The first priest Gabrensko monastery "St. Dimitar " is Bone Krastev from the neighboring village Upper Pasarel ( former Sofia village displaced along with the nearby villages and Shishmanovo Kalkovo due to the construction of the Iskar Dam ) .
