Puppet theater Sofia

Founded in 1946 by Mara Penkova any money scarce at that time , the first puppet theater in Bulgaria managed to cause great public attention. Only two years later was voted state subsidy in support of the troupe , which was given the status of the first public professional theater in Bulgaria .

The first international event of the theater in 1958 in Bucharest, and only two years later he won " for originality and imagination" of the Second International Puppet Festival in Bucharest for "Peter and the Wolf " by Sergei Prokofiev , directed by Atanas Ilkov and Nikolina Georgieva.

In 65 years the theater has experienced significant creative upsurge . Enclosed are iconic performances brought accolades and popularity of our puppet theater and art all over the world - from Cuba , the United States and Canada in the countries of Europe to faraway Japan. Examples include performances as " Mowgli ", " curious elephant ", " Goldie - Golden Girl ," " Pinocchio - no children ", " Great Quixotic Jumble ", " Tale of gull and a Bunch of Cats ", " Vampirova bride ", " tale of bum - King "and many others .

Until now, the theater placed over 300 titles.

The theater hall gets its "Gen. . Gourko "№ 14 in 1971, has two lounges, audience hall , sound and lighting booth , equipped recording studio and administrative offices .

In the audience hall has 260 seats, arranged in 14 rows and 4 lodges.
