Route Dragalevtsi - Kikish shelter

Although rarely visited, this is one of the easiest routes in the northern part of Vitosha. The duration of the transition is less than two hours, and the displacement only 680 meters . The starting point is the center of Sofia "Dragalevtsi " . Departs on street "General Kovachev" which follows the right bank of the river Dragalevska . After repeatedly crossing the asphalt road to the hut "Aleko " is still a perfectly landscaped promenade along which there are rest areas , fountains and numerous boards and panels that inform routes and sights in Vitosha.

Soon the route crosses the deviation of Dragalevski monastery and right passes the lower station of the funicular mountain "Dragalevtzi - Bay Krusty". From left remains the restaurant "Vodenitsata" . Hence , there are two options for reaching Dragalevski monastery. The first is to continue on the road crossing Dragalevska River, which leads to the entrance of the monastery . The second pass on the left bank of the river before it reaches the main road and a wide path out to the meadow north of the monastery.

In both cases, you need to head to the big bend in the road to the hut "Aleko" and exit above the monastery, where it separates wide dirt road (part of the ski run of " Dragalevtzi" to hut "Aleko" ) . It is only about 40 meters , then takes the path through tall bushes . Ten minutes later again cross the road to "Aleko " and soon reach a small plateau with a fountain through which there is a good dirt road .

The route continues along it, and ten minutes after the new deviated left better recognizable path. Crosses Buyaka area and reaches the foot of a large rock that surrounds the right track. From this place in good weather you can enjoy beautiful views of the entire Sofia field, "Dragalevtsi" and "Simeonovo", Valley of Dragalevska River, Gradishteto and Golyamo Gradishte. You can see even a portion of the buildings of the monastery Dragalevski.

Nearby to the west is the place Kikish on which was built the eponymous shelter . It is a vast meadow, which coincides with the mid- lane roundabout . The route is rarely used but is the shortest connecting "Dragalevtzi" with shelter .
