Route Momina skala hut - Boyana ...

The starting point of the tourist route hut "Momina skala" in Sofia. Next to it you can get a 15 -kilometer paved road or well- marked trails. You can use as a starting point of the transition and Golden bridges as far as running regular services to the metropolitan public transport.

Hut "Momina skala" to Boyana waterfall can be reached in less than an hour , so if you want to stretch your legs , walk away from the Golden Bridges to add another fifteen minutes to transition . Initial section of the cabin to the waterfall is a convenient and easy downhill well marked and breadcrumb trail . From "Momina skala" trail heads left along the wooden benches and tables and pass the bridge , near which is placed signboard for Boyana waterfall .

Although brief , the trail is quite scenic as inseparably follows the bed of the river Boyana , in whose right bank moves . There are no branches or exits that could fool you . After a few minutes the transition onto a wide dirt road that crosses perpendicular to the path and leads to small but cozy hut " Esperanto " .

When you cross the road , the trail enters a rare deciduous forest. In this section your route is very steep, so you need to approach with caution , especially if the group is small children, the elderly or has recently rained . The trail goes to the highest part of the waterfall , where we Boyana river "throw " headlong into the 25 -foot chasm .

Boyana waterfall is the highest in Vitosha , though far inferior to the " colleagues " from Stara Planina , Rila , Pirin and Rhodope Mountains. It is situated in a beautiful forest and the rock from which descends reveals a remarkable panoramic view of the capital Sofia field . The scenery is complemented by sheer cliffs marking the steep descent to the plane of the Boyana river bed .

At the foot of the waterfall has a nice pool , which in the hot summer months is an attractive place for many people. In the descent from the top of Boyana waterfall to the pool below you must be extremely careful, because the terrain is very steep , rocky and dangerous , and unfortunately there have repeatedly occurred tragic incidents. The descent takes about ten minutes and is not sufficiently safe .

If you prefer not to go back the same way , from the foot of Boyana waterfall you can take the path of "Boyana " . Alternative route leads to the Boyana Lake.
