Stara Zagora - Hilendar Convent

In 1979 in the courtyard of the church "St. Dimitar " is a reconstruction of the Hilendar convent , which created the first local church school . For historical information is still available in the second half of the eighteenth century and was destroyed in the burning of Stara Zagora in the month of July 1877

For three years ( 1855-58 years) during his stay in Stara Zagora, live in the convent young Vasil Ivanov Kounchev in with his uncle Haji Basil ( monk - mendicant friar of the monastery Hilendar ) . He trained at St Nicolas school class and attended organized by teacher Atanas Ivanov course for priests.

The exhibition includes two reconstructions : a cell and classroom in the second half of the nineteenth century made ​​a graphic picture of Vasil Ivanov.
