Extremely wealth of Hissar, and in all of Bulgaria is Thracian observatory located near the village of Old Jelezare. It is now only open Thracian observatory in Bulgaria, type Stonehenge. Archaeology - astronomical studies show that it was used to measure the annual cycle, the equinoxes and solstices, which have played an important role in ritual and economic calendar of the ancient Thracians. Monitoring the various phases of the movement of God - Sun was the responsibility of the Thracian priests.
It consists of 24 vertical stone slabs, two of which are missing. The plates are of different sizes. Arranged in the right circle. Likely used by the Thracian tribe Odryssae. After discontinuing the use of the facility, it is covered with soil. On leveled ground above it were found fragments of pottery vessels that dated to the beginning of the V century BC.
