Art Gallery Nikola Marinov

Nikola Marinov Abajiev is a world famous Bulgarian painter of Targovishte. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, which ended with a gold medal in the specialty painting .

After graduation , he worked in Italy until 1906, when he returned to Bulgaria and started working as a teacher and later as a staff artist at the Ministry of Education . In 1921 he became a professor at the Art Academy , where he taught until 1940. Among his students are some of the most prominent Bulgarian artists : Ilya Beshkov Alexander Zhendov , Nenko Balkanski, Ilia Petrov , Alexander Stamenov, Ivan Nenov Teodora Genadieva and others. In the period 1935-1937 he served Marinov year rector of the Academy .

The talented artist is the patron of the Art Gallery in Targovishte, birthplace of the famous Bulgarian. Established in 1959 as an art department at the Historical Museum. Since 1981, the gallery is housed in a separate building . It has a 3,000 m2 exhibition area . The greatest interest is the work of Marinov from whom the gallery has 79 works.

In the present exposures and famous masters of painting : Dechko Uzunov , Svetlin , Zlatyo Boyadziev, Nayden Petkov, graphics Prof. Rumen Skorchev, Prof. Stoyan Stoyanov and many other contemporary Bulgarian artists.
