Ecopath Ostrich

The starting point of the trail " Ostrich " is from village Babintsi in the north of the Balkan Mountains Teteven. Of it to the point of transition is reached by one-lane paved road . The distance is about 10 kilometers in a smooth slope. The route is not with great difficulty , although the displacement between the lowest and the highest point is about 650 meters ( Republic - 720 ; Ostrich Peak - 1,069 m above sea level) .

Ostrich Peak dominates the panorama of conical shape. It is due to her and one of the most curious stories about this giant mountain . Grandfather Dadashko of Teteven ( hero of many legends ) he dreamed that the top Ostrich erupting volcano. Very worried , he shared his dream with the local priest , and the priest offered to serve a church service at the site to save the picturesque town from destruction.

Communing with God , the priest had a vision that residents of Teteven to bring stones located at the foot of the river Vit Ostrets to squeezed her breasts evil monster that is about to spew lava. Since then he has remained the custom every year in early October by the Republic of older women to climb to the top , carrying on a boulder . Gratitude for being saved, the locals built with the stones of the top small chapel " Pokrov " which at the moment adds extra charm to the area.

After being out of Babintsi path rises gently surrounded by beautiful of Yablanitsa . Around a remarkable abundance of lush forests and scenic meadows. You can enjoy the beautiful wild flowers , wild polodove to eat or pick edible mushrooms . When lucky you will see some of the typical representatives of the local fauna - wolf, fox , deer , golden eagle and bear.

At the foot of Ostrets track becomes much steeper and began the final ascent . You should be aware that the chapel is normally locked and had to ask for the key to the village. Even if you did not bother though, Ostrets will offer such stunning views of Alton Tetyoven (so was called the city during the Renaissance , when experienced its biggest boom ) , you will not regret it for a moment .

Although relatively long transition is particularly difficult , but it requires proper endurance. Marking is yellow , a few places are placed wooden benches and tables . Babintsi from the top can be reached in less than an hour in a normal way, the route is suitable for biking .
