Teteven Baba peak

Mount Teteven Baba (grandmother) is in Zlatishko -Tetevenska part of the Balkan Mountains , north of the village of Anton. It is one of the highest peaks in the mountains and rises to 2,071 meters above sea level. Since his grassy ridges , they are used for grazing. The abundance of pine and beech forests attracts hikers, and wildlife lovers . Northern and southern slopes of the peak are steep and eroded .

North of Tetevenska grandmother is natural reserve Preserve . Almost the entire area is covered by forests . A curious fact is that this is one of the most extensive and well preserved beech forests in Europe. The average age of the tree is between 130 and 200 years, some of them reaching 50 meters in height. Besides the song of birds there, you may encounter deer , wild boars , foxes, as well as the predator in Bulgaria - brown bear .

There is a legend about Mount Tetevenska grandmother . It is known as The Legend of Old Kozarka . Many years ago , when I finish the last days of March , an old woman who had a flock of a hundred goats, said,

- Come goats in the mountains ! Martha grandmother, me grandmother and grandmother to grandmother what can do ?
