Price: To take a trip on this route have to have a car or rely on organized transport and advisable to hire a guide, as many of the sights on it remain outside of the main tourist destinations. So, it's nice to trust someone who can explain more about them, because they really deserve.
The first stop on the route is the site Kovanlaka. It is located three miles northwest of the village of Topola (Dobrich) and only eight kilometers southwest of one of our major resort towns on the northern coast - Kavarna. While not known to the general tourist Kovanlaka is remarkable for several reasons. First is her beautiful nature, as it is tucked away in the Dobrudja plateau, close to the beach and combines a rich variety of flora and fauna. Furthermore, a wealth of historical heritage - in 1967 here was opened Proto settlement since the dawn of the Bulgarian state in the south of the Danube. Of course, we must not forget the excellent leisure and entertainment located here.
During excavations in Kovanlaka found many houses, most of which are buried and has only one entrance, meaning that it could protect them for possible attacks. Official buildings and the homes of the wealthy inhabitants were built of stone, rammed earth or stone floors and heavy wooden beams that supported the roof. Here are found numerous traces of a large center for pottery. To the village of Topola was excavated and a large necropolis with nearly five hundred grave, which has rich materials providing information about the beliefs, rituals and philosophy of the ancient Bulgarians.
The next stop on this route is a historical museum in Kavarna (street "Black Sea" 1) Set in a medieval bathroom renovated recently. The collection presents the development of the settlement of the early Middle Ages right up to the beginning of World War II. Of particular interest is the exposure of objects expose the life and culture of the tribes who lived in the time limit Byzantine province of Scythia Minor. Attraction for tourists and a few coin treasures from different periods, which can be seen here.
This is the last stop on the route, as it ends with a hammam (bath once, which houses the museum) built in the fifteenth century. Representing a massive building with domed roof, built of stone, Hammam is a beautiful architectural ensemble, as it includes the picturesque fountains located nearby. Fully restored, it is one of the most attractive places to visit in Kavarna. Of course, you can tour ended with a walk around the city or pleasant relaxation on the beach.
