Mountain air, greenery, ancient forests, crystal clear waters, modern architecture, cleverly combined with the beauty of Renaissance houses - this is Tryavna. And today the city carries the spirit of their ancestors - famous masons, carvers and painters. That is how was formed the famous Tryavna Art School - the oldest Renaissance School in Bulgaria. The old part of Tryavna is declared an architectural reserve, where they saved about 140 monuments of architecture.

Tryavna has preserved the only National Revival-square "Captain Santa Nicholas. For the church of St. Archangel Michael is said to have created more time to Kaloyan, but dug into the earth, shows that it is updated or newly built during Ottoman times - in 1819 as a Renaissance city in every church in the immediate vicinity with school. It is taught old Doe. In the center of the Renaissance ensemble (the Revival Square) rises famous clock tower, built in the early nineteenth century. Another symbol of Tryavna is “hunchback bridge” that leads to Old Town. The most famous in Tryavna is Daskalov house. Today it is a museum of woodcarving. The two suns on the ceiling remind bet concluded between young and old master, as to who will make a beautiful sun. The outcome is still disputed, but no doubt the beauty, the works remain today peak in woodcarving. Totally unique not only for Tryavna, but for Bulgaria is the Museum of Asian and African Art, located in an old bath, the chimney, where storks nest. Renaissance town assimilate this very serious collection through donations to the American with Bulgarian roots, Zlatko Paunov, his mother was born in Tryavna neighborhoods and he bequeathed all collected through years of her birthplace. Subjects are 200 and originating from Tibet, Nepal, China, India and some African countries. Entrance is BGN 2. Another landmark is the Slaveikov house where were born the nine children of Petko R. Slaveikov. Here is the house of Angel Kanchev, which works mostly (like most museums here) during the summer. Winter visits are on request. Not least to mention the local icon painting school, which presents 160 icons-originals of six families icon painters. If you're tired of museums and walking streets in craft, strongly recommend the local cuisine and cozy restaurants. Places to stay are many and for every pocket.
