Varna Archaeological Museum has been Established in 1887 by brothers Herman and Karel Shkorpil. The museum store the oldest gold in the world. Varna Eneolithic treasure dates back to 4200-4600 BC. Picket under special arrangement. The treasure was discovered accidentally in 1972 during construction work near Varna. It is difficult to imagine how much time is spent underground beautiful gold jewelry and objects until the time comes in which historians and archaeologists from around the world to talk about the treasure of the Necropolis. The find is from around 2000 objects of almost pure gold with 23.5 carat total weight around 5.5 kg. It contains gold necklaces, bracelets, breast ornaments and vessels. This discovery turned the minds of historians for the development of human civilization. One of the most striking exhibits can be seen in the museum is the golden scepter - a symbol of power by monarsheski type. Extremely curious view a grave here and transferred № 43 with the skeleton of forty - fifty years old man, covered with more than 100 gold ornaments. He outlines the image of the leader (king), having a sacred functions and having the symbols of power.

The museum is housed in the old building of the Girls' High School in Varna on the boulevard "Maria Luisa" № 41. It was built in 1892-1898 on the project of architect Petko Momchilov. The building is in neorenesansov style on two floors and large patio. The museum has a repository, libraries, educational children's museum and a large exhibition area.
