Kapinovo monastery is situated on the River Vesselina 5 km from Velchevo village, 8 km from Kapinovo village and 14 km south of Veliko Tarnovo. The monastery is situated about 2 km from Plakovo monastery, which is why called them "twin monasteries." In the Bulgarian Revival Kapinovo monastery is one of enlightenment and revolutionary outbreaks. In 1794g. briefly abbot of the monastery is Sofronii Vratsanski , where he made and left his copy of "Slavonic-Bulgarian History". In the monastery functioned a monastic school .

Kapinovo monastery played an active role in preparing the April uprising. During the Russo-Turkish war around the monastery became a great battle, with some Russians who were buried in here. Nowadays Kapinovo monastery is active and a complex of church, two chapels, residential and farm buildings. In 1845. monastery church was decorated with the most spectacular since then is the composition is "Doomsday" by Ivan Popovic. The earliest monument of painting originating Kapinovski monastery is called "Kapinovo screed" in 1700. Held today at the National Archaeological Museum in Sofia. In the courtyard of the monastery Kapinovo there is a well-spring. The monastery can be used for a tavern about 20 people, where guests can cook for themself. Next to the monastery, on Vesselina river, lies the beautiful waterfall Kapinovo. On 15 km is the architectural reserve Arbanassi. For reservations - 0887638333
