Unlike most tourist routes path from Veliko Tarnovo to the monastery "St. Transfiguration" is for two starting points . The reason for this is that by quarter "Varosha " and neighborhood 'Kartala' routes exist for the monastery , which at one time were merged to form the classic trail . The track was made by the Tourist Association " Trapezitza 1902 " was discovered in 2001 and is marked in black and white.
Ecopath " Veliko Tarnovo - Transfiguration Monastery " is the picturesque gorge Derventa amphitheater located above the canyon of the river Yantra. It is one of the most attractive routes around the old capital, offering a variety of opportunities for sport, recreation and tourism. They are combined with stunning panoramic views of the rocks lined ridges of the hills around Veliko Tarnovo. The terrain through which passes the route is extremely diverse - forests consisting mainly of low-growing trees and shrubs , ridge meadows cut into the surrounding terrain little river gorge ... From eco-trail passes again through a forest , then crosses a place where there are traces of excavation of an ancient village and monastery complex and descends gradually to the end point of the route - Transfiguration Monastery. Although it was founded in the XIV century, it acquired its present form in the XIX century. Then most of the buildings were built , and the catholic church " Holy Transfiguration ." It is known that it was built by Kolyo Fitcheto and murals were made by Zachary Zograph ( the most popular are " Circle of Life " and the altar ) . This store and the remarkable carving " royal doors " . Transfiguration Monastery is one of the most important cultural and educational centers in Bulgarian Revival.
