Route Yamna village - Chertigrad...

Village Yamna ( Etropole , Sofia District) is located about ten kilometers from Etropole tucked between mountain slopes picturesquely situated at the northern foot of Mount Svishtiplaz ( 1888 meters altitude ) . The village consists of several neighborhoods , as is normal for this region : Padesh , Zlatichora , Spilovitsa , Zebrovitsa ... Its surroundings are full of beautiful places , attractive for tourists from all over Bulgaria . In Iamna runs small but lush mountain river gold, and the surrounding forests are literally filled with herbs, rare plants and edible mushrooms .

Near the village is Iamna monastery "Holy Trinity" , which is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the region . During the Bulgarian liberation movement repeatedly here is housed Vasil Levski . Perhaps the most famous landmark in the vicinity of the village waterfall Crow water, situated ten minutes from the neighborhood downs.

Path from the village to the Thracian Iamna Chertigrad is designed to present to the tourists a little known but very interesting city of the ancient inhabitants of the Bulgarian lands. The fortress was built in IV-III century BC on the hill side of the watershed between the valleys of the Old River and Cherni Vit . The only access to it is through a narrow isthmus , protected by a strong wall . Currently it are remains a height of about eight feet . The other three countries Chertigrad is naturally protected by steep cliffs that descend more than 100 meters to the bed of Cherni Vit .

Fort existed until VI century. In its eastern part is situated sanctuary dedicated to the worship of the Sun . It is a rock platform with a small opening between the vertical stone blocks between penetrating rays of the rising sun.

Chertigrad is located about two miles northeast of Iamna . The trail is rugged and therefore the transition takes about an hour and a half. Eco is suitable for tourism from late spring to early autumn . Before you take on it is pointeresuyvate for weather forecasts . You need to be well equipped and prepared for sudden changes in the weather . But worth it. Chertigrad can offer a combination of incredible panoramic views with the opportunity to experience the history of the Bulgarian lands.
