A holiday in Ahtopol will make you change your mind on the Bulgarian Black Sea resorts. Although not as popular as Kiten, Nessebar, Primorsko and Sozopol, Ahtopol not really inferior to their merits. Like them, our most southern town boasts an ancient history and ancient heritage, like them, and he has a highly developed tourist facilities and also as they seek to provoke the interest of visitors with delicious local cuisine and comfortable new hotels. In fact, several years can be said that Ahtopol is now divided into old and new town, separated by a bridge. Old Town is one of Ahtopol, survived and evolved over the years, destroyed and rebuilt. The new city has the typical urban vision - apartment blocks and modern. But like everything else in Ahtopol, and the contrast is striking. Like mountains and sea coexist in harmony on both sides of town and his two visions are part of the overall whole.

Visiting Ahtopol, you will not be satisfied all the fabulous places in the suburbs. We are wondering whether to take the beach of Silistar whether to walk to Sinemorets and surrounding villages, where there are several interesting old churches, whether to jump off to the nearby village of Varvara, which is a paradise for lovers of scuba diving and fishing or just follow the tourist flow to the rocks at the end of the beach from which to jump into the sparkling waters.

Like every ancient city of Ahtopol has preserved the traces of civilizations lived there thousands of years ago. Today, remnants of ancient Thracian, Greek and Roman times are the main tourist attractions of the city. When you walk along you will notice the stone ruins of the ancient fortress Agatopol, dating from around the V century in excavations in the Roman wall was found Thracian fortress wall from the beginning of new era. Interesting is the church "Ascension", built in the late XVIII century it is located very close to shore in the eastern part of Ahtopol and looks like a house. Very close to the church is another very significant to the history of landmark Ahtopol - Greek school. After the devastating fire of 1918 and survived a small part of the monastery "St. Jani ", built in XII century and the chapel" St. Marina ", which are also worth your attention. What makes this different Ahtopol however, peacemaking atmosphere and beautiful nature of the area. Ahtopol can surely be called one of the most heavenly places in his native coast.
