Route carried romantically named " Song of the Nightingale " is circular , unlike most trails in the region. It starts from Ahtopol ( Tsarevo municipality , Burgas ) and lasts about three hours and a half. Its level of difficulty is very low and this makes it suitable for tourists in the elderly , those with not very good physical condition and families with small children.
Ahtopol was founded in 430 years BC by Greek colonists , and very quickly became a flourishing trade center. After the weakening of the Roman Empire was sacked by barbarian invaders , but the Byzantines restored it under the name Agatopol .
Currently the city is an attractive destination for summer tourism as it is relatively protected from contamination and has some of the most beautiful beaches on the southern coast . Ahtopol can boast with its fortress wall that is preserved in places up to eight meters in height , and historical museum, the ruins of the monastery "St. Yani" from XII century and preserved church " Ascension " from 1776 .
The route starts from the center of town and headed southwest , moving against the flow of small dol known to locals as Santa Guigova kaba . The route follows him , climbing a gentle slope until it reaches the area Petranov . You can take a short break to enjoy the many rocks with bizarre shapes , and stunning panoramic sea views .
Here the route descends to the northeast to reach Nakova coulee . The transition continues along the ravine to get out after a short time on the beach. This is the end point of the route. For this reason, you prefer to stay on the beach and have fun . If in a hurry to go home , however , you can take the southeast and return to the city after a short and pleasant walk . The transition is suitable for bird observations, because the region is home to a transit or destination for many species of rare and wonderful birds.
