Apriltsi - City of mountaineers

Apriltsi is located in a mountainous area. Situated in a large valley at the foot of the highest peak of the Balkan mountain - Botev Peak, near Mt. Maragidik or Mermaid, as they say nowadays. Apriltsi is known in Bulgarian history with the heroism of these mountaineers during the April Uprising of 1876. Apriltsi has several monuments dedicated to the uprising of 1876, one of which is located in the city center. On one of the hills was built 34 foot cross that lights the city. In Apriltsi is convent "St. Trinity ", notable for its beautiful chapel. Many Orthodox monastery landmark icon "St. Novoselski martyrs. " Be sure to visit the Aprilov church "St. Petka Paraskeva." If you want to get a complete picture of the April uprising in the region, to visit the museum, which is housed in the new building of the "House-Novoselo Uprising monument." You can see many written documents and items, telling the tragic heroism of the local population.
