Vihren

Conquest of Vihren is one of the most exciting experiences that you can give away. Two routes, which tend to move tourists, are relatively easy to overcome. However, it is no small effort, especially for the inexperienced. But the view from a height of 2914 meters is truly unique. They say that a good time thus far seen off the coast of the Aegean Sea. There are brave men sometimes remain overnight on the peak to occur at certain times enchanting dance of shooting stars, lunar eclipses and other rare astrological phenomena. They do, of course, only in summer. One of the most beautiful mountains (and some say the most beautiful in the country), Vihren, is the highest point in the Pirin Mountains. It is the second highest in the country - after peak Musala (2925 m) and the fourth - the Balkans. Experienced mountaineers climb to Vihren in all seasons, but ordinary tourists is best to choose a time between July and September when weather conditions are most suitable and relatively stable, and the length of the day is 12-15 hours. The top is entirely of white marble, and the slopes are very steep. Its old name was Eltepe means "peak of the storms." It issued another feature of the place - often rage around storms. Ancient legend tells that once there was a marble throne Thunderer Perun - the supreme god of the Slavs. Hence the mountain received its name Pirin.

In the mountains there are several lifts, but none of the lifts do not go near Vihren. So if you decide to go to the top, you should allow enough time to reach the hut "Banderitsa" or hut "Vihren". The road from Bansko to Vihren is about 12 km asphalt road, parked just in front of the hut. Hut "Banderitsa" is near Bansko and the road to the top is longer. While climbing towards the hut "Vihren" about 200 meters before the lodge is the path for Baykusheva fir. From Vihren hut to the top is also marked. In the beginning there is a path to the lake “Eye”. If you drive along the main road, it is divided into two - if you want the easy transition, go to the left, the more difficult and more scenic route is right. Somewhere along the right path, the route meets that of the hut "Banderitsa". Edelweiss flower is found in abundance on the rocky edge Djamdjiev rocks. Transition to the top is an extraordinary experience, but the inexperienced tourists should be careful at every step. Along the route you will enjoy the unique views that are continuously changing, beautiful lakes, enchanting forests and breathtaking panoramas.
