Dupkata Biosphere Reserve is located in the southern end of the Batak in Rhodopes Mountain . Situated along the Devin River . Covers an area with an altitude of 600 to 1300 m hole was declared a reserve in 1951 with a total area of ​​1210.8 hectares . Area of ​​the reserve is included within the protected zone potential Western Rhodopes , part of the European ecological network Natura 2000. The reserve was created to protect the centuries-old pure forests of pine and protection of deer . The terrain is very uneven , sometimes very steep . The hole is a typical forest reserve - 83% of its area is covered with conifer forests. The majority of them are 200 years old pure forests of white pine, which carries the scent of resin , and in the loose , located high on slender trunks branches penetrate serenity and light. The greatest wealth is a game reserve hole as this is one of the largest populations of wild goat. The reserve provides shelter and even a large number of forest mammals such as red deer , roe deer , fox , wild cat , brown bear and others. There are a large number of birds - hawks , grouse , peregrine and others.

In reserve hole is Kemerovo Roman bridge , similar in construction to the Devil's Bridge on the River Arda in the Eastern Rhodopes . Not far from the reserve are Fotinska waterfalls. They are very picturesque in all seasons , but autumn beauty is truly astounding . Biosphere Reserve Dupkata is a real treasure that has preserved one of the most pristine and enchanting places in Bulgaria .
