Village Durankulak is the northern Bulgarian Black Sea resort, situated 18 km north of Shabla and 6 km. from the border with Romania. Durankulak Goscinny offers a unique opportunity for its combination of cultural, environmental and marine tourism. The name of the village is of Turkish origin and translates to "standing ear" because of the shape of the lake, which lies near it.
