Ecopath Etara - Sokolski Monaste...

Ecopath "Etara - Sokolski Monastery " can be traveled only about an hour and is suitable for all seasons , beginners tourists as well as for groups with children. The route offers the opportunity to visit some of the most emblematic places in the region of Gabrovo and feel the spirit of the old mountaineers .

The official opening of the ethnographic "Etar" is on September 7, already back in 1964. He was the first ever open-air museum in Bulgaria . Created about 8 km from Gabrovo. The route passes through beautiful mountain forest , after reaching the village pond and red if imperceptibly brought tourists to the Sokolski Monastery.

Sokolski Monastery ( also known as Gabrovo ) was founded in 1833 . He is an active monastery mixed. In the yard there is a fountain with eight spouts .

During the April Uprising in 1876, Sokolski Monastery is one of the most mighty stronghold of the Bulgarians in their desire to restore its statehood . Located in the upper reaches of the river Yantra monastery still preserves the memory of the heroism of the rebels , led by Tcanko Dyustabanov . During the Russo -Turkish War of Liberation Sokolski Monastery is suitable for a field hospital .
