Sokolski Monastery

Sokolski Monastery is located 12 km from Gabrovo and only 4 kilometers from the museum, along the upper reaches of the river Yantra. The nature around is beautiful, but the monastery has been preserved over the centuries and is very well maintained.

Sokolski Monastery was founded in 1833 by Archimandrite Joseph Sokolsky called. Together with Agapi monk, he built a small church. In 1862 the church is richly decorated with paintings of Zograf Paul and his son Nicholas from Shipka.
