The starting point of this route is Ivaylovgrad, a relatively little known tourist destination that has many advantages, most notably the ancient monuments preserved Renaissance architecture, several protected areas in the immediate vicinity and the incredible natural beauty of the area.
Overall the route is designed to introduce cycling enthusiasts who take a trip on it, the beauty of it is not particularly known corner of the Rhodopes - villages with preserved traditional architecture, a fascinating cultural heritage and protected areas, designed to preserve the magnificent nature in the area. From the starting point is taken to the typical neighborhood "Ladzha" (south) and the route climbs smoothly. Right before your eyes begin to reveal beautiful views Ivaylovgrad Thracian Plain.
After crossing "Ladzha", the route takes you to the ancient villa "Armira", passing through agricultural areas, most of which are covered with well-maintained vineyards. When you look perfectly preserved and restored ancient Roman villa, the route takes you to the village fiddler (Ivaylovgrad Municipality, Haskovo District), passing through dense forest that can give you so desired coolness in the hot summer months.
You should be careful because the road does not enter into the village and surrounds the north side, where the ancient necropolis, known as the Grand Mound. The route again goes through the vineyards, giving us the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent panoramic views of our southern neighbors Greece and Turkey. After just four kilometers gentle descent to reach the protected area "Likana" where is the end point of the route. Here is a nice fountain built near you deploy your tent or just plug in the sleeping bag, enjoying the magnificent scenery and starry sky.
"Likana" has an area of only three hectares and was declared in 1992 to preserve the unique for Bulgaria variety of orchids. Here are found fifteen species of beautiful flowers.
Other rare species of our country are Telcharka Verbenaceae and salvia. The area is valuable in terms of being a habitat of various rare reptiles - turtles, snakes and lizards. Even if you are not knowledgeable of the flora and fauna, however, can not help but appreciate the impressive mix of forest and open grasslands, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Eastern Rhodopes.
