Ecopath Ivanovo Rock Churches

Historic Route " Ivanovo rock churches " is designed to promote and introduce the greatest possible number of Bulgarian and foreign tourists with remarkable self-titled mediaeval Christian and the history of Polomie. There are two options for the starting point of the route . One ( if we can call it a tourist ) choice is to leave the village of Ivanovo . In this case the transition is about 9 kilometers and allows nature lovers to gain a much more complete picture of the area. The second is to stop your vehicle in the parking lot in front of Ivanovo rock churches. From the village there is provided a pretty decent track.

If you choose to go walking from the railway station near the village of Ivanovo will go down the gully in the area Garvalov Yalak . Passes along the monuments of the dead soldiers near the village during the Russo -Turkish War ( 1877-1878 ) . Another option is to take the road to Ruse and moves upstream Ruse Lom to Ivanovo rock churches.

After some time getting to the ruins of a destroyed church near where it crosses the river Ruse Lom and takes the dirt road that provides an excellent opportunity to examine the picturesque valley and some of the rock niches formerly occupied by the monks . Ivanovo rock churches are located 18 km south of Ruse . Unlike other rock monasteries in Bulgaria are well-preserved murals. Represent a large network at different heights in the wall of rock churches, chapels and cells that are connected by narrow paths and stone steps , overhanging gorge Ruse Lom . Constructed between X - XIV century, when the rocky canyons in the lower reaches of the river Ruse Lom and its tributaries become one of the largest spiritual centers in the territory of medieval Bulgaria .

Route " Ivanovo rock churches " is suitable for tourists of all ages. It is light and pleasant (especially if you choose to get to the heart of the complex by car ) , and also offers visitors the opportunity to experience an authentic piece of spiritual history of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The track is available year-round , but it is preferable to go on it during the warmer months .
