Route Kalofer - Botev peak - Kar...

The route starts from the center of Kalofer and should asphalt road Panitsite ( 6 km ) , where the steep climb to the hut "Paradise" (located near the highest waterfall in the Balkans - Praskaloto ) . The transition from Kalofer in Botev peak near Karlovo is quite difficult crossing the highest part of the central Stara Planina ridge and has a total duration of about 13 hours, so it is necessary to divide at least two parts.

By Panitsite to hut "Paradise" route follows very well marked with serious displacement. The transition takes about 4-5 hours , depending on your physical condition and the weather conditions . However, definitely worth it because it offers amazing views of the Stara Planina ridge with its highest peaks, waterfall , forest and sub-Balkan Central Valley. Dozens of places are numerous places to rest, so you can rest quite often.

In some areas, the trail passes through beautiful beech forest , then out in the open and reveals the full splendor of the surroundings. The last stretch to the hut "Paradise" passes through the steep climb . It is located 1,430 meters above sea level and is one of the most visited tourist destination in Bulgaria .

If you have time you can visit the waterfall , located just 30 minutes away, but note that the ascent of Mount Botev (2,376 meters) will take two to three hours, and the end point for the day shelter " Botev " have another half hour.

Rather Botev " repays " the tourists with stunning views and every climb it brings new emotions.

Hence pleasant descent to the shelter , located at the western foot of the peak. It is located 2,210 meters above sea level and was completely renovated and offers all the basic amenities .

Trail to " Vasil Levski " Karlovo and go west , passing through some of the highest and most scenic peaks of the Stara Planina. If you enjoy panoramic views advisable to follow the winter mark that follows the ridge with a few exceptions . There are no large displacement, but the route is quite long. The first stop is a hut " Vasil Levski " , located at the foot of the homonymous peak , about 5 hours of shelter " Botev" .

The rest of the transition to Karlovo is a nice descent (3-4 hours ) through a beautiful beech forest in picturesque bed of large, then "Hubavets " and that of the Old River . Approximately midway between the " Vasil Levski " and " Handsome " is hut " Mountain Rose " .
