On the north side of the cape is a small cove with a port called Bolata. This is a firth and a narrow gorge that cuts through the coast to the former war zone. On both sides there are rock formations with caves carved into them. In Bolata runs short creek that is fed by numerous springs. At the point where it flows into the sea, forming the mouth of the lagoon. This is the only sandy beach in the area of Kaliakra.

Bolata is the only reserve in Bulgaria, including the territorial sea, sea area. It can be observed kingfishers, bittern, herons, grebes and ducks. Here goes Via Pontica - one of the main migration routes of migratory birds.
