Krushunska is the shortest trail in Bulgaria . It is located in the village Krushuna Lovech district and it is a short route passing through Maarata . In 1992 , through the efforts of Dr. Peter Petrov, Institute of Geography , BAS , Krushunska travertine cascade and adjacent large precipice Garvanitsa were declared a natural landmark and saved from destruction by mining of limestone building material.
And built a trail Krushunska representing a short sequence of wooden bridges and stairs that allow tourists to explore the impressive karst region. Besides short , the transition is quite easy , as neither dangerous nor the steep sections . The route is suitable for nature lovers of all ages and for all seasons, but it is preferable to visit it during the warmer months. Special equipment you need , you only need comfortable hiking boots and good mood.
The so-called Krushuna travertine cascade is a sequence of many tens limestone thresholds that descend waters springing from Krushunska cave creek. Some of the waterfalls are bigger , while others are only a few inches high , but the overall view is spectacular and the area has become a symbol of Bulgaria . Water flowing through the cascade has a bright emerald color and formed dozens of small pools and ponds in its passage through the limestone labyrinth.
Maara is all overgrown with sparse forest , allowing the low vegetation ( grasses , ferns , shrubs, vines ) to cover the ground like a carpet . Although trees are not very thick , and they move between picturesque creek created a very attractive environment for tourists , especially during the hot months .
Inside the cave Krushuna form deep lakes, intricate interlaced tunnels and bizarre stalactites that imagination of visitors opodobyava different things ( Brad Rock flowers , etc.) . In front of the cave lies a meadow , surrounded by bizarre way on all sides by rocks Devetashko plateau.
In Maarata are several caves - Boninska , Waterfalls, Urushka Maara and Gornik . The first of them is the largest underground lake in Bulgaria . Reaching Krushunska trail and move on it does not pose almost no difficulty, but at the expense of the area is amply repays its visitors with an abundance of beautiful scenery , water and whisper rock sculptures carved by nature.
