Orelyak peak

Marble beautiful peak which resembles an eagle with wings slightly open , it is "perched " Mid-Pirin . Although located in the smallest share in the Pirin Mountains , Mount Orelyak is the highest it with its almost 2099 meters altitude. The peak is located on the road between the towns of Gotse Delchev and Sandanski over Pirin village . The most common species are Greek leggy frog , salamander , wild boar , wolf , brown bear , fox , deer and others.

The area around Mount Orelyak of interest to historians and archaeologists . According to some of them is quite possible that a few hundred meters below Orelyak have been Bogomil communities. The discovery of such a settlement will enable researchers to understand more about the lives of the followers of the heretical teaching of the Bulgarian priest who lived during the reign of Tsar Peter I (927-969), known as Pop Bogomil . If you have set out to conquer Mount Oreliak main starting point for the climb is hut Popov meadows. From there began a marked path , in which about 2 hours you can reach the top. The same hut to the summit leads 12 km gravel road .
