Theatrical traditions in Sliven began more than 140 years ago, when the city opened the first theater scene . The first theatrical performance in Sliven took place in 1868 . In 1918 became the first professional theater company in the "Zora" Community Centre . This year is considered the beginning of professional theater in Sliven. 1948 state theater .
The new building of the theater was built in 1986, has a large hall ( 484 seats), a chamber hall (121 seats), ballet hall , spacious lounge on two levels with a bar crowd administrative part .
In its 90 year history, the theater has presented to audiences over 400 performances .
The repertoire is as classic works by authors from the world theater - William Shakespeare , Jean Baptiste Moliere others. , And many Bulgarian classics : Ivan Vazov , St. Kostov , Anton Strashimirov and others. The theater has performed in Germany, Austria , Czechoslovakia , Georgia, Slovenia , Macedonia and others.
