Museum of the textile industry in Sliven is the first permanent scientific and technical exhibition in Bulgaria. The building which houses the museum is the first textile school in the country. It was built in 1906 and is a monument of culture. Visitors to the museum are not only spectators, but participants in demonstrations and live alone have the unique opportunity to test their technical skills. Museum collections 36 values shape. One of the biggest among them are: textile crafts, crafts, tools and equipment for manual textile, weaving machinery, knitting machinery, manufacturing, trading cards of various textile companies, textile education. The permanent exhibition of the museum is located in 8 rooms on two floors of the 27 seats in the halls to perform demonstrations. In chronological order and displayed manual textile factory from the early Neolithic (VII century BC.) by the end of the nineteenth century and the end of the century to the 70s of the twentieth century. Special emphasis is made on the beginning of the industrial revolution in Europe in 1733 with the invention by John Kay pitched a "flying shuttle". Another invention that has become a revolutionary home of the art and technology was made in 1800 by Frenchman Joseph Marie Jacquard. This program applies to the weaving machine - Jacquard apparatus with which each key individually managed thread. Separate Hall met with crafts related to the tissues.
Among the exhibits are spinning machine in 1937, a mechanical loom branded "Maria Louisa" from England especially for the Bulgarian market in 1943, the other two are devoted to different types of weaving and knitting machines. Almost all facilities work will be done demo to see how the live. A special exhibition is devoted to the life and work of Dobri Zhelyazkov - founder of Industry in the Bulgarian lands.
The museum rests on the weekend, but can open by appointment for groups. Talk and demonstration costs about five BGN.
