Vitosha Park

Vitosha is the first park in Bulgaria and on the Balkans. It was declared a national park 27/10/1934. In 2000 the park is categorized as "natural." Today the area is 27,079 ha. On its territory there are two reserves (Biosphere Reserve "Bistrishko branishte" and reserve "Torfeno branishte") and landmark (cave Duhlata). In Vitosha there are a large number of small water sources, but the only major river that flows from the mountain is the Struma River, which flows into the White / Aegean sea. Specific park Vitosha are stone rivers (moraines) and screes. Impressive stone river bridges in the area of Golden. There are many hiking trails in this part of the mountain: a mountain Kopitoto to chalets "Maiden Rock" and "September. "Golden Bridges" is one of the most common exit points to the Black peak .In the park are Dragalevski monastery "Virgin Mary of Vitosha" (XIV century) and Kladnitsa Monastery "St. Nicholas" (built in the nineteenth century on the old foundations). Boyana Church "St. Nicholas and St. Panteleimon "(tenth century) is situated on the border of the park and is included in World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Vitosha is a favorite place for recreation for many local residents. In localities Balabanovets and Kiselishte lies created in 1952 Dendrarium. It occupies an area of 1400 ha with an average altitude of 1175 meters and is exposed over 350 species of domestic and exotic trees and shrubs. Constructed walkways, gazebos, fountains, benches, tables, chairs and two lakes provide conditions for holiday. In the Arboretum area has been built and Children infotainment center. Nearby is the Museum of the bear, built at the destroyed Canton. Entrance to museums paid - 0.50 lev white birches in the area, 1.5 km south of the Arboretum, right off the road that leads to m gold bridges, there are owls Museum and the Museum of the dragonfly.
