Route Zagorka Lake - Kaleto peak

The starting point of the route is the last stop of buses and trolleybuses , located between the plant and pond "Zagorka" . Start from the right ( east ) side of the road to the village of Yagoda (municipality Muglizh , Stara Zagora) . Kaleto peak emerges very clearly dominates the area, featuring with its planted with conifers right slope.

After you pass the gas station , located on the road to enter a roundabout under the flyover asphalt road and a short but steep path route climbs to second overpass and then crosses the road to the left. This is the place where the track finally sunk modern infrastructure and takes on a nice dirt road .

Soon, however, we have to get back to civilization ( albeit briefly ) and cross sub-Balkan railway line. We need to do a right turn to get into the yard of the dilapidated Canton " Kipkidir " where there is a fountain . Left it starts a steep path that runs past several abandoned houses and displays a pine forest above them. Hence began the ascent of Mount Kaleto.

The trail continues to follow the path that makes a turn east ( right ) and directs the hillside , following the left border of the pine forest. Moving from lake Zagorka to Mount Kaleto last no longer than an hour , even with the move to a very slow pace . The ruins of the medieval fortress that has stood here are known as the Turkish fortress . One theory is that this is because it is one of the first stronghold conquered by the Ottomans in their raids in the area of present-day Stara Zagora .

The altitude of the fortress is only 559 meters , but the situation is very strategic . It has a magnificent view to the south, which has helped our ancestors to prepare for enemy incursions , and allows us to enjoy not only seemed to spread in a our feet Stara Zagora, but also the Thracian lowland and dominant over the southern horizon slopes of the Rhodopes .

Returning to the starting point of the route going the same route. From Pond Zagorka to town can return by public transport or on foot if desired by tourists .
