Strashimirovo Swamp is a protected area , which is located on the south bank of the canal , which connects the lake and Beloslavsko lake. It is also called Yatata or Aladansko swamp, and the area was 154 hectares. Swamp is rich in a variety of plant and animal species , many of which are protected - Pygmy Cormorant , Dalmatian Pelican , Little Bittern , black and white stork, and others. Its territory recorded 208 species of birds and 62 species of them are listed in the Red Book of Bulgaria. Yatata is one of the most important places in the country to protect the nesting Stilt , the little bittern and ruddy shelduck . In the season of migration birds often over the marsh can be seen numerous flocks of white and black storks, raptors , and furthermore five globally threatened species - the pygmy cormorant , Dalmatian Pelican , Ferruginous Duck , Glossy Ibis Spoonbill . That's why their own species richness swamp was converted into a protected area . Today it is among the most important places of ornithological importance in Bulgaria .
