The eco-trail passes through the northern part of the reserve "Vulchi dol" long and almost 5 km. The terrain is hilly, typical of the Eastern Rhodopes, and takes about three hours and a half. Along the transition tourists can learn about the flora and fauna in this part of the mountain, combining open grasslands and deciduous forests. Particularly appropriate time to march ecotrail is early spring, when the meadows are covered with a colorful carpet of wild flowers.

The reserve is located in the vicinity of the lake "Studen kladenets". Starting point of the transition can be used one of the nearby villages - Stari Chal, Boynik and Studen kladenets. The transition is relatively easy, the altitude varies between 210 and 647 meters.

Reserve "Studen kladenets" was established in 1980 to protect the only colony of Griffon Vultures in Bulgaria. Part of the protected zone "Studen kladenets" and the title Important Bird Area. Within the reserve has a very diverse landscape - land covered with rocks and overgrown with bushes, forests and meadows. However, there are mostly low-growing bush and trees including oaks, hornbeam, thorn, maple, red juniper and evergreen shrubs of Mediterranean type.

The reserve grow 413 species of plants, including a six Bulgarian and Balkan endemics. Grow in the high oak, oak, oak and beech. Among herbaceous particularly impressive Rhodope mountain mother Rhodope tulip delicate mullein, Reichenbach iris, Serbian woundwort and symbol of this magical mountain - Rhodope haberlea.

Tourists choose ecotrail can learn an impressive diversity of birds of prey living in the reserve. From a total of 23 species living in "Vulchi dol", 21 are listed in the Red Book of Bulgaria. There are Egyptian, black and griffon vulture, golden eagle, black stork, Blue Rock Thrush, eared wheatear, large olive warbler ... One of the two colonies of Griffon Vultures in Bulgaria is located precisely in the "VCulchi dol" on a huge scale. There is a special area for feeding birds and built a watchtower.

The rocky terrain in some parts of the protected area contributes to the presence of numerous representatives of reptiles and amphibians. The reserve is inhabited by 21 species, including thin shooter rat snake, worm snake, Montpellier snake, European glass lizard. "Vulchi dol" is one of the largest deposits of globally endangered turtle species four-lined. Of large mammals can be observed (although it happens very rarely) fallow deer, wild boar, deer and of course the wolf gave the name of the reserve.
