The only of its kind along the Danube and the Balkans only Ethnographic Museum "Danubian Fishing and Boat Construction" was opened in 1974 in Tutrakan, which was approved center of the Danube fishing in the late XIX and early XX century. Once the city had many skippers workshops, fishermen and boats, and in every house there was a candle with an icon of St. Nicholas. Revival style houses due to the fact that there is a nice neighborhood during this period, no garden is a feature of the houses of fishermen. In the museum are kept unique devices for fishing from ancient times. Photos and graphics explaining how fishing villages along the Danube. Impressive is the picture of the nearly 400-pound sturgeon caught in 1942, attention is room for boat, which takes place in this region since Roman times. In the fishing hamlet of Tutrakan can be learned more interesting facts about fishing craft and lifestyle of fishermen. This is the only fishing village in Bulgaria, which was formed along the great river. It is interesting to know that in Tutrakan (or more precisely in Transmariska as the old name) there was a workshop for repair of vessels and in the 19th century. boats made in Tutrakan exported to Austria, Serbia and other countries.
