Historical Museum Vidin

The Historical Museum is one of the oldest scientific and cultural institutions in Vidin, an important center for utility-scale storage, scientific processing and promotion of cultural and historical values.

Beginning of the museum in the near Vidin dates back to 1910 when the Archaeological Society was founded and settled first museum. After the wars of the mid-20s of XX century Archaeological Society "Bono" stepped collecting activity under the guidance of teacher Vasil Atanasov governed mainly by exposure numismatic material and Bulgarian embroidery in an old Turkish-mail.

Rich exposure unit "Archaeology" is located in the restored main building Konaka. Interesting exhibition "Numismatics", it consisted of over 30 000 coins. Other exhibitions include "Bulgarian lands XV-XIX century", "Modern and Contemporary History" and "Ethnography", which is located in the "cruciform barracks" of 1969 Library Fund, the museum has over 4,600 volumes.

No less interesting are the other museum objects: medieval fortress Baba Vida and cruciform barracks. These objects rest on Sunday. The fortress is a museum shop, where available cards, brochures and other museum publications.

Every last Thursday of the month entrance is free, and the remaining days will be charged a fee of 4 BGN for adults and 2 BGN for children. There are family tickets - 10 BGN and the talk of the tour is paid 20 BGN.
